Remove the torque converter, transmission, and output transfer gears.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Position torque converter (1), the transmission, and the output transfer gears onto suitable cribbing and Tooling (A).

Cut cable straps (2). Disconnect harness assembly (3).

Disconnect clamp (5) from torque converter (1). Remove tube assembly (4).

Cut cable straps (8). Move harness assembly (3) out of the way.
Disconnect tube assembly (6).
Remove tube assembly (7).

Attach Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (1). The weight of torque converter (1) is approximately 268 kg (590 lb).
Remove bolts (10) and the washers. Use Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and the suitable lifting device in order to separate torque converter (1) from transmission (9).
