Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
If necessary, remove the Fuel Filter Base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, " Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

Disconnect wiring harness (1) from the glow plugs (2). Note: Make temporary identification marks on the wiring harness assembly for installation purposes.
Clean the area around the glow plugs. Ensure that the area is free from contamination before removal of the glow plugs.
Use a deep socket in order to remove glow plugs (2) from the cylinder head. Installation Procedure

Before installing glow plugs (5), ensure that the glow plugs are operating correctly. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Glow Plug Starting Aid - Test" “Check the Operation of the Glow Plugs” for the correct procedure.
Ensure that the threads of the glow plugs are clean and free from damage. Replace any damaged glow plugs.
Install glow plugs (2) into the cylinder head . Tighten the glow plugs to a torque of 9 N m (80 lb in).
Connect wiring harness (1) to glow plugs (2).
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
