Information:

Start By:a. remove final drive carrier 1. Remove bolts (1), four locks (3) and four retainers (2).
Tool (A) is not fastened to the ring gear. Use caution to prevent personal injury when the gear is removed.
2. Fasten a lifting device (A). Remove the ring gear with lifting bracket (A). The weight of the ring gear is 109 kg (240 lb).
Tool (B) For Serial Numbers 49Z500 - UP (992C) and 7MJ1 - UP, (992D) there will be no hub (7). Engage the brakes before the wheel is removed, then remove the wheel. Use tool (B) to hold the brake discs in position and then the brake can be disengaged.3. Fasten a hoist to wheel and position lift truck as shown. Remove ten bolts (6), retainer (5), and the shims. 4. Fasten a hoist lifting bracket (A). Fasten lifting bracket (A) with a 1/23/4 " - 13 NC X 1 " long bolt and flat washer. Remove hub (7). The weight of the hub is 91 kg (200 lb). Use straps (8) as additional support as the hub is removed. 5. Remove the bearing from the spindle shaft. The weight of the bearing is 27 kg (60 lb). Fasten a hoist and lifting strap to wheel assembly (9). Install flat washers and nuts on studs (10) to keep the straps in place. Remove the wheel assembly with a fork lift truck and a hoist. The weight of the wheel assembly is 476 kg (1050 lb). 6. Position the wheel assembly on a wooden block. Remove two bearing cups (14). Remove ring (12), if necessary.7. Remove retainer (13) and Duo-Cone seal (11). 8. Remove bearing (15) from the spindle shaft. 9. Remove Duo-Cone seal (17). Remove spacer (16).Install Final Drive Ring Gear, Hub And Wheel
1. Install Duo-Cone seal (1) on the brake housing with Seal Installer (A).2. Install spacer (2). Put a small amount of final drive oil on the contact surfaces of the Duo-Cone seal. 3. Install bearing (3) on the spindle shaft. 4. Lower the temperature of bearing cups (4) and install them in the wheel assembly housing. Use heat resistant gloves to handle the bearing cups.5. Instal retainer (5). Instal the Duo-Cone seal with Seal Installer (A). 6. Install ring (6), if it was removed. Ring (6) must have a tight fit or the wheel assembly can not be installed. 7. Fasten a hoist and straps on wheel assembly (7). Install flat washers and nuts (8) on the studs of the wheel assembly to keep the straps in place.8. Use a fork lift truck a hoist to position the wheel assembly in the brake housing.9. Install the bearing on the spindle shaft. 10. Fasten straps (10) to the wheel assembly as shown. Fasten Lifting Bracket (B) to hub (9) and put it in position in the wheel assembly. 11. Install retainer (12) on the hub without shims (11). Install ten bolts in a pattern as shown.12. Perform the following procedure to find the thickness of shims (11): a.
