11. Maintain the hydraulic oil to the FULL mark in the sight gauge.12. Install the oil filler cap. The hydraulic tank has three filter elements. Remove two covers to replace the elements. Replace two 1R-0735 elements near the front of the tank and one 1R-0722 element near the rear of the tank.Steering System
Replace Filter
The steering system filter is located on the left side of the engine compartment, and mounted to the radiator guard.1. Remove the filler cap from the hydraulic tank to relieve the pressure in the tank.2. Remove the plug from the bottom of the housing and drain the oil from the filter into a suitable container. Remove the filter element housing.3. Remove and properly discard the filter element.4. Clean the housing with a clean cloth.5. Inspect the seal. Replace the seal if damaged.6. Install the new 4T-3131 element, housing and plug.7. Check the hydraulic tank oil level to ensure proper oil level before starting the engine.Fuel Tank
Clean Cap and Strainer
1. Remove the fuel tank filler cap and strainer.2. Disassemble the fuel cap. Wash cap and strainer in clean, nonflammable solvent.3. Inspect the tank cap seal. Replace the seal if damaged.4. Put a light coat of oil on the cap components.5. Install the strainer.6. Assemble and install the cap.Fuel Filters
Wash Primary/Change Secondary Filters
Pressure air can cause personal injury. When using pressure air for cleaning, wear a protective face shield, protective clothing, and protective shoes. The maximum air pressure must be below 205 kPa (30 psi) for cleaning purposes.Use all cleaning solutions with care.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Turn the battery disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Do not fill fuel filters with fuel before installing them. Contaminated fuel causes accelerated wear to fuel system parts.
Wash Primary Filter
Shut off the fuel supply valve located on left front of tank inside of the access door. 1. Loosen the filter housing case retaining bolt.2. Remove the case and remove the element from the case.3. Wash the element and case in clean, nonflammable solvent and dry using pressure air.4. Clean the filter housing base.5. Inspect the seal. Replace the seal if damaged.6. Insert the clean element into the case.7. Install the element and case into housing.8. Tighten the retaining bolt to a torque of 25 7 N m (18 5 lb ft).Change Secondary Fuel Filter
1. Remove and properly discard the filter element.2. Clean the filter element mounting base. Be sure all of the old seal is removed.3. Coat the seal of the new filter element with clean diesel fuel.4. Install the new filter element by hand. When the seal contacts the base, tighten 3/4 turn more. There are rotation-index marks 90 degrees apart on the filter. Use them as a guide for proper tightening.5. Open the fuel supply valve.6. Prime the fuel system. (See next topic.)Priming Fuel Filter
1. Turn the priming pump plunger counterclockwise and pull it out. Operate the pump to fill the new filter elements with fuel. Continue
