531-3112 Axle Oil Cooler Harness
Software Installation
The implement software and transmission software will need to be flashed once the axle oil cooler system has been installed. Flashing the software, will allow the axle oil cooler system to function properly. Refer to SIS for the latest software for the machine.Configuration Instructions for Axle Oil Cooler System
Note: This feature can be configured and must be activated with Product Software Programming System (PSPS) or a service tool.Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) and select the proper Electronic Control Module (ECM). Select "SERVICE" from the menu.Select "CONFIGURATION" from the menu.Double-click the desired feature on the "CONFIGURATION" screen.Select the desired status of the feature and click "OK". The feature will be activated on the next power cycle.Start the machine and bring hydraulic up to temperature.Check all connections for fluid leaks.Note: If leaks are found, shut down the machine, recheck the connections for tightness, and restart the machine.Note: Be sure that the fluid has pressure in the oil cooler system to insure that fluid has reached the gear pump installed during this publication. Failure to do so before engaging the electric clutch could result in a dry start for the pump and damage the pump bearings.Testing Procedure
This procedure will manually force the axle oil cooler system on without the axle oil being at a high temperature in order to ensure that the system is installed correctly and that the system has no leaks.
Unplug the front or the rear axle 264-4297 Temperature Sensor from the chassis wiring harness.
Run a 45 ohm to 90 ohm resistor across the two pins in the chassis wiring harness connector in order to simulate a high temperature.Note: The temperature must be higher than 85° C (185° F) in order to active the axle oil cooler system but the temperature needs to stay under 125° C (257° F) in order to prevent a fault code.Note: A 441-4287 resistor can also be used and plugged directly into the wiring harness where the axle temperature sensor would connect.
Verify that the axle oil cooler system has turned on by checking the pressure at the axle oil cooler motor inlet. This pressure should show roughly 2500 kPa (363 psi) after the machine has been started, then pressure will drop slightly as the system warms up.
Check for leaks and tighten fittings if necessary.
