To find the required thickness of shims (2):(1) Install bearing assembly and upper and lower caps.(2) Install four bolts (1) with the same space between each (install only three bolts on the 950).(3) Tighten opposite bolts evenly until they are tightened to a torque of 65 5 lb. ft. (90 7 N m)(4) Make sure that the lower cap is completely against the frame. Measure the gap between the upper cap and the frame at each bolt.(5) The minimum gap measured is the thickness of shims (2) required between the upper cap and frame.To find the required thickness of shims (3):(1) Install the pin and plate (5).(2) Install two bolts (4) that are opposite each other and tighten them to 100 10 lb. ft. (135 14 N m).(3) Measure the gap between plate (5) and the frame at several locations around the plate.(4) Subtract .010 in. (0.25 mm) from the minimum gap measured. This is the thickness of shims (3) required between the plate and frame.
