Introduction
An attachment socket is available to provide battery power for a detachable beacon, trouble light, and other electrical devices. This instruction provides the necessary information to install the socket and control switch. The mating 9R7942 Plug is available through your Caterpillar dealer.This installation procedure is applicable to all backhoe loader models from first production.Reference: Parts Book and Service Manual.Necessary Parts
9R7940 Wiring Group - Power Receptacle
Installation
1. Remove the screws holding the left hand post cover, and remove the cover. 2. Drill one 22.5 mm (0.886 in) diameter hole in the left side cab panel at the location shown. Remove all burrs around the drilled hole. 3. Install the 9R7941 Socket Assembly with one 9R7935 Washer on either side of the panel. Use the mounting hardware included with the socket to fasten it in place. 4. Remove the headliner. 5. Connect 9R7939 Harness Assembly (the end with the 2 pin connector) to the 9R7941 Socket Assembly.6. Connect the 603A Pk wire in the new harness to the 603 Pk wire in the existing harness assembly.Connect the 200A Bk wire with the ring terminal to the ground lug in the top of the canopy. (The same lug where the other ground wires are terminated.)7. Install the headliner.8. Install the left hand post cover using the hardware removed in Step 1. 9. Remove the two screws securing the control panel. Lift the control panel and tilt the panel forward. 10. Remove the hole plug, and install 8D2676 Switch Assembly in the switch opening at the location shown in the above illustration. Use the hardware with the switch to secure the switch in position. Looking at the front of the gage panel the switch will be located to the top left of the key switch. 11. Locate the existing wiring harness behind the panel. Connect wire 603 Pk to terminal (3) of the switch. Connect wire 121 Yl to terminal (2) of the switch. Wire 603 Pk and 121 Yl will be found hanging from the harness assembly and taped.12. Secure the panel in position with the hardware removed in Step 9. The circuit is rated for a 7 Amp. continuous load and protected by a 10 Amp. fuse marked "Backup Alarm/Beacon.
