Test Procedures
When it is necessary to test the hydraulic system, the filter, screen and magnets should be clean and the lubricating fluid level checked for correct level. The lubricating fluid temperature in the control should be reasonably warm when making instrument pressure readings. Each of the power control hydraulic pump outlets must be tested separately.A 7S8712 Pressure Gauge, 1S8937 Valve (Shutoff), 5S4648 Hose and necessary fittings can be used to test the operation of the power control hydraulic system.Remove the plug assembly from the flange on the front of either hydraulic pump, install the necessary fittings, hose and gauge and start the engine. Operate the engine at high idle RPM and, with the control levers in HOLD (neutral) position, observe the pressure reading on the gauge. Normal pressure should be below 25 PSI (1,8 kg/cm2). If the reading is 35 4 PSI (2,4 0,3 kg/cm2) (the opening pressure of the lubricating relief valve), a lubricating passage could be blocked. The right and left side pump circuits are not connected and must be tested separately. If the pressure gauge is mounted in the right side pump circuit, the right side control levers are actuated. If the pressure gauge is mounted in the left side pump circuit, the left side control levers are actuated.
TYPICAL LEFT SIDE HYDRAULIC PUMPMove the control levers to both the forward and the reverse position to force out any air that could be in passages in the control housing. Do not move more than two levers at the same time.
TESTING BLADE LIFT CLUTCH ENGAGING PRESSURE (TYPICAL)Control housing fluid temperatures should be known when checking relief valve pressure. Compare the pressure gauge reading when a lever is pushed forward with the reading when the same lever is pulled to the rear. The pressures should be within 15 PSI (1,0 kg/cm2) and should correspond with the relief valve pressure and fluid temperature shown in the chart.
LEFT SIDE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE Add shims (2) to increase or remove shims to decrease the pressure setting of the relief valve. Plug (1) torque is 25 5 lb.ft. (3,5 0,7 mkg).
7J6056 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
1-Plug. 2-Shim.If the pump is in satisfactory condition and it is necessary to adjust the relief valve pressure, stop the engine and remove the plug from the side of the housing. Remove the relief valve through the plug opening. The valve installation torque is 100 lb. ft. (13,8 mkg).
LEFT SIDE PUMP REMOVEDClutch Engaging Pistons
The clutch groups contain two different size pistons. The larger pistons are located in the right and left side blade "down" clutches and both circle reverse clutches. The smaller pistons are located in the right and left side blade "lift" clutches and both rack side shift clutches.
CLUTCH ENGAGING PISTONBall-Socket Joints
The ball-socket joints with inserts are not lubricated periodically. The socket and the ball should be coated with 8D2132 Bonded Lubricant when reconnecting the joint. Use the correct thickness of shims, between the sockets, to obtain .003 to .008 inch (0,08 to 0,20 mm) clearance.
