Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the sea water from the system.
Disconnect the water lines that are attached to the auxiliary pump.

Remove bolts and washers (1) that attach pump (2) to the front housing.
Attach suitable straps and a lifting device to pump (2). The pump and bracket (4) will be removed as a unit. The weight of the pump plus the weight of the bracket is approximately 208 kg (460 lb).
Remove bolts, locknuts, and washers (3) that attach bracket (4) to the base.
Carefully move pump (2) and bracket (4) as a unit away from the front housing. Lift the pump and the bracket as a unit from the base. Place the bracket on a level surface.
Remove the O-ring seal from the joint between pump (2) and the front housing. Discard the seal.
Remove shims (5) from the joint between bracket (4) and the base.

Remove bolts, locknuts, and washers (6) that attach pump (2) to bracket (4).
Remove pump (2) from bracket (4). The pump weighs approximately 166 kg (366 lb). Note: For information about disassembly and assembly of the sea water pump, see the literature that is provided by the OEM of the pump.
