983B SHOWN1. Remove screws (1) from both sides of cover (2) and move the cover from the instrument panel. 2. If it is necessary to remove cover (2) from the machine, disconnect ground wire (3) and wire assembly (4) from both dash lamp assemblies and remove cover (2). 3. Remove bolts (5) from each side of the instrument panel. Pull the instrument panel away from the frame enough to disconnect the lines and wires. 4. Remove heat-start switch (7) as follows: a) Remove knob (9) from the switch.b) Remove nut (8) and push switch (7) out of the back of the instrument panel.c) Put identification on wire assemblies (6) as to their correct location on switch (7). Disconnect wire assemblies (6) and remove switch (7). 5. Follow the procedure in Step 4 to remove light switch (10) from the instrument panel. 6. Disconnect air line (13) from the air filter indicator (15). Remove the two bolts to remove air filter indicator (15) from the instrument panel.7. Put identification on the electric wires as to their correct location on circuit breakers (11) and (12). Disconnect the wires and remove screws (14) to remove circuit breakers (11) and (12) from the instrument panel. 8. Disconnect fuel pressure line (16). Remove the bracket that holds fuel pressure gauge (17) to remove the gauge from the instrument panel. 9. Disconnect wires (18) and (19) from fuse holders (20). Remove fuses (21) from fuse holders (20). Remove the nuts that hold fuse holders (20) to the instrument panel and remove the fuse holders. The notch (slot) in the nut must be in alignment with the side terminal of the fuse holder. 10. Remove the torque converter oil temperature gauge (22) as follows: a) Remove the sending unit from the torque converter.b) Remove the bracket that holds gauge (22) in the instrument panel.c) Pull gauge (22) and the line from the instrument panel. 11. Remove the water temperature gauge (24) as follows: a) Remove the sending unit from the cylinder head.b) Disconnect the three clips that hold the gauge line in position.c) Remove the bracket that holds gauge (24) to the instrument panel. Pull gauge (24) and the line from the instrument panel.12. Disconnect the pressure line from the back of engine oil pressure gauge (25). Remove the bracket that holds gauge (25) and pull the gauge out of the instrument panel.13. Put identification on the electric wires as to their location on the ammeter. Remove the bracket that holds ammeter (23) and remove the ammeter from the instrument panel. 14. Disconnect the wire assemblies from the back of service meter (26). Remove the nuts that hold the meter in position and pull meter (26) from the instrument panel. 15. Remove starting aid switch as follows: a) Disconnect wires (27) from the starting aid switch.b) Remove knob (30).c) Remove nut (29) and starting aid switch (28) from the back side of the instrument panel.
