(17) Transmission oil pumpWhen the engine is started, the transmission oil pump (17) pulls oil from oil sump (15). The oil flows through the suction screen and magnet (16). Transmission oil pump (17) sends pressurized oil through transmission oil filter (torque converter) (1) and transmission oil filter (control) (2). The pump provides pressurized oil for modulating valves (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), and (10) and for Lock up clutch modulating valve (11). Transmission oil pump (17) also provides oil to lubricate and cool the transmissionNumber 4 modulating valve (6) is energized because the transmission is in neutral. None of the remaining clutch solenoid modulating valves (7), (8), (9), (10) and (11) provide oil to the transmission clutches. The pressurized oil leakage drains to oil sump (13).Transmission hydraulic control relief valve (3) routes the torque converter inlet oil to torque converter (5). Torque converter outlet oil flows through torque converter outlet relief valve (2) to oil cooler (16). After the oil cools, the oil drains to transmission oil sump (13).Torque converter inlet relief valve (12) limits the maximum pressure of the torque converter inlet oil. Torque converter inlet relief valve (12) is located inside transmission hydraulic control relief valve (3).Transmission in the FIRST SPEED FORWARD position with the Torque Converter Lockup Clutch ENGAGED

(17) Transmission oil pumpThe power train electronic control module (ECM) modulates the electrical current that is sent to the selected clutch modulating valves. The oil pressure to the transmission clutch is controlled by modulating the electrical current to the clutch solenoid modulating valves.Number 2 clutch and the Number 6 clutch are engaged. None of the remaining modulating valves (5), (7), (8) and (9) provide oil to the transmission clutches. The pressurized oil leakage drains to oil sump (15).The power train electronic control module (ECM) will activate the modulating valve for lockup clutch (11) in order to engage the
