The autoshift switch is located on the switch panel. The autoshift switch determines if the transmission will be shifted manually or if the transmission will be shifted automatically.Manual Shifting
Move the autoshift control into the manual position (1). The transmission speed selector must be moved manually in order to change transmission speeds.Automatic Shifting
The transmission can be shifted automatically. Place the selector switch into one of the automatic positions. The automatic mode of operation is represented by two numbers that are separated by a dash. The first number is the transmission's lowest allowable speed. The second number indicates the transmission's highest allowable speed.For example, place the selector switch into the "2-3" position. The transmission will not automatically downshift into first speed. The transmission will automatically shift into second speed when the direction is changed. The transmission will automatically shift no higher than third speed.

A downshift switch is located on the lift lever. The downshift switch is active when the transmission is in the automatic mode. Pressing the downshift switch will downshift the transmission by one speed. The transmission will only downshift if an engine overspeed will not occur. Holding the downshift switch will downshift the transmission as the machine speed decreases. Machines that are equipped with electro-hydraulic bucket controls use the speed selector switch that is located on the left side of the steering wheel in order to downshift the transmission.This switch is normally used to downshift from second speed to first speed while you are loading a bucket. The transmission will remain in the downshifted gear for three seconds after the switch is released. Then, automatic shifting will resume.
