Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels in order to keep the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

Disconnect grease line (1) from carrier (5) .
Remove two bolts (4) and the washers that fasten carrier (5) to the frame.
Remove four bolts (2) and two straps (3) that fasten the front joint group to the center joint group.

Support front drive shaft (7). Remove four bolts (9) and two straps (8) from yoke (6) .
Use two persons in order to carefully remove front drive shaft (7). The weight of the front drive shaft is 36 kg (80 lb).Installation Procedure
When the front drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the front axle assembly yoke. The front drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and rear drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Use two persons in order to carefully install front drive shaft (7). The weight of the front drive shaft is 36 kg (80 lb).
Install four bolts (9) and two straps (8) to yoke (6). The torque for bolts (9) is 60 10 N m (44 7 lb ft).

Install four bolts (2) and two straps (3) that fasten the front joint group to the center joint group. The torque for bolts (2) is 60 10 N m (44 7 lb ft).
Install two bolts (4) and the washers that fasten carrier (5) to the frame.
Connect grease line (1) to carrier (5) .
Lubricate the front drive shaft. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7459, "950G Wheel Loader and 962G Wheel Loader" for the correct procedure.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
