Remove the fuel tank guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Tank Guard - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove cover assembly (1) .
Drain the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the correct procedure.

Open the battery compartment access door. Remove hold-down assembly (2) .

Slide batteries outward from hydraulic tank (3). Disconnect wire connector (4). Disconnect hose assembly (5). Disconnect tube assembly (6).

Remove cover (7) .

Disconnect hose assemblies (8), (9), and (10) .

Install tooling (A) to hydraulic tank (3). Use a chain and a suitable lifting device. The weight of the hydraulic tank is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).

Disconnect wire connector (11). Remove bolt (12) and bolts (13). Remove the hydraulic tank from the machine.
