Information:
Know the machine's linkage movement extremes. Keep the work tools away from the cab at all times. Failure to do this could result in personal injury or death.
Know the maximum height and the maximum reach of your machine. Serious injury or death by electrocution can occur if the machine or the work tools are not kept a safe distance from electrical power lines. Keep a distance of at least 3000 mm (118 inch) plus an additional 10 mm (0.4 inch) for each 1000 volts over 50000 volts.
Never swing a load over a truck cab or over workers.Do not swing the linkage into stationery objects. Use the machine hydraulic system to stop the swing. If a sudden stop is required use the swing brake.Repeated stopping by an object can cause structural damage if the front linkage is swung into a bank or an object.Repeated chopping can cause structural damage. Use a digging, scratching or peeling motion when trying to penetrate rock, frozen ground or a hard surface. With certain boom-stick-work tool combinations, the work tool can hit the cab or front of the machine. Always check for interference with first operating a new work tool.Whenever the wheels of the machine raise off the ground while lifting, lower the machine back to the ground smoothly. DO NOT DROP OR CATCH IT WITH THE HYDRAULICS. Damage to the machine can result.Keep the stick out, when moving the machine, to prevent the clamshell, the grapple or the magnet from swinging into the cab. These work tools can swing in all directions.
Know the location of any buried cables. Mark the locations clearly before you dig.Consult your Caterpillar dealer for special bucket tips that are available for use in severe applications.Move the machine whenever the position for lifting is not efficient. The machine can be moved forward or backward at any time during the operating cycle. To maneuver the machine into confined places and out of confined places, use the bucket, the boom, and/or the blade. Use these work tools to perform any of the following functions:
Push the machine.
Pull the machine.
Lift the wheels.Use steady, comfortable speeds while you operate the machine. For efficient operation, use more than one control at a time, when possible.Position a truck so that the machine can load the truck from the rear or from the side. Load trucks evenly. This will help you avoid overloading the rear axles. An oversize bucket should not be used in rocky material. A bucket that is equipped with blade type sidecutters should not be used in rocky material. This slows down the cycle. Damage to the bucket and damage to other machine components could result.Use the service brake while the bucket is in operation.
Do not use the parking brake while the bucket is in operation. If the parking brake is used while the bucket is in operation, damage to the transmission will occur.
The oscillating axle must be locked while work tools are being used to prevent damage of the machine. The oscillating axle must be locked before
