(1) Torque for nuts ... 33 7 N m (24 5 lb ft)(2) Put 5P-3413 Thread Sealant on threads before installation of valve assembly.(3) Inflate spring with air through valve assembly (2) as follows: (4) Torque for bolts ... 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft)(5) Rubber toric seals and all surfaces contacting them must be clean and dry at assembly. Apply a thin film of oil to contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings just prior to assembly. Seal rings must be assembled square with the bore and toric must not be bulged or twisted.Seal Assembly (Later Models)
1. Apply a thin film of oil (detail C) to the inside diameter of the retainer counterbore or the outer diameter of seal load ring (13) to facilitate installation of seal assembly (12).2. Install seal assembly (12) into the retainer counterbore with sharp sealing edge (14) extending out of the retainer.3. It is critical that seal ring (15) and load ring (13) be fully assembled. Load ring (13) must contact flange (16) behind seal lip.4. Make sure there is no oil in the interface between load ring (13) and seal ring (15). Seal assembly (12) must be completely seated in the retainer.Procedure to Adjust Suspension Bogie Bearings
1. Make sure outboard bearing cone (10) slides easily on axle (11) and locknut (8) rotates freely on axle (11) threads.2. While rotating hub assembly (7) three revolutions, tighten locknut (8) to 34 7 N m (25 5 lb ft).3. If any locknut (8) slot and lockwasher (9) tang are aligned, bend the aligned tang into engagement with slot to lock in place.4. If locknut (8) slot and lockwasher (9) tang are not aligned, tighten locknut (8) until first locknut (8) slot and lockwasher (9) tang are aligned. Then bend the aligned tang into engagement with slot to lock in place.
