HARNESS AS-OPERATOR CONTROLS 1706959 - Caterpillar

1. Remove nuts (1) and lockwasher that hold the cover to the transmission housing. Remove cover (2) and the gasket from the transmission housing. 2. Remove interlock plunger (3) and spring (4). 3. Remove lockwire (5) and bolt (6) from the shifter fork. 4. Remove three bolts (7) and move linkage (8) out of the way. Remove the shims under the linkage if so equipped.
Do not let the washers on the shaft fall into the transmission housing when the shaft is removed. There are washers on each side of the shifter fork.
5. Slide shaft (11) out and remove washers (9) and shifter fork (10).Install High-Low Range Shifter Fork
1. Slide the shaft into the transmission and put shifter fork (1) on the shaft.2. Install the bolt that holds fork (1) in position. Make the adjustment of the interlock over-ride as follows: a) Shift the transmission into the lower range position. Install the interlock plunger (5). Push in on the interlock plunger and move the shaft until the plunger finds a seat in the detent.b) Use a feeler gauge to measure the distance between the shifter fork and the transmission housing.c) Make a selection of the thickness of washer needed to be the same distance measure in Step b minus .020 .010 in. (0.51 0.25 mm).d) Move the shifter fork toward the rear of the machine. Do Steps a, b and c again to adjust the high range position. 3. Remove the shifter fork and install it with the correct amount of washers (2) as measured in the above steps.4. Install bolt (3) that holds the shifter fork on the shaft.5. Use lockwire (4) that is 8.00 1.00 in. (20.3 2.5 cm) in length and install the lockwire in the bolt. 6. Install spring (6) on interlock plunger (5). 7. Put linkage (7) in position. Use shims under the linkage as needed so the linkage will move freely. Install the three bolts that hold it to the frame. 8.
