Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".

Use Tooling (A) to lift the rear of the machine until the weight is removed from the tire and rim assembly. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1328, "Lift Group (Stand - 60 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A).

Typical Example
Remove 12 of 14 full nuts (1) and the hard washers from the tire and rim assembly.Note: The remaining two full nuts (1) and the hard washers should be left on the tire and rim assembly (180 degrees opposite of each other).

Position the lift truck so that the forks are under the tire and rim assembly. Position a lifting sling around the tire and rim assembly and secure the lifting sling to the lift truck, as shown.

Severe injury or death can occur if the inside tire and rim is removed completely from the wheel assembly before it can be fastened to the mast of the lift truck.To avoid injury or death from a crushing injury, secure the inside tire and rim to the lift truck before removal from the wheel assembly.
The tire and rim assembly can also be removed by using a tire handler, as shown.
Remove the remaining two full nuts and the hard washers from the tire and rim assembly. Remove the outer tire and rim assembly. The weight of the outer tire and rim assembly is approximately 1180 kg (2600 lb).

Remove four bolts (2), the hard washers, and clamp (3) from the wheel.

Put identification on the tire and rim assembly for installation purposes. Remove 12 of 14 full nuts (4) and the hard washers from the tire and rim assembly.

Position the lift truck so that the forks are under the tire and rim assembly. Use suitable blocking and a lifting sling around the tire and rim assembly to secure the tire and rim assembly to the lift truck. Remove the remaining two full nuts (4) and the hard washers. Reposition the tire and rim assembly outboard on the wheel assembly.
Reposition the lift truck so that the forks are under the tire and rim assembly. Position a lifting sling around the tire and rim assembly and secure the lifting sling to the lift truck, as shown. Remove the inner tire and rim assembly. The weight of the inner tire and rim assembly is approximately 1180 kg (2600 lb).
