Position Tooling (G) onto gear (25). Attach a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (F). Raise Tooling (F). Measure end play on Tooling (G).
The end play of gear (25) must be between 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch) to 0.2 mm (0.0079 inch). Adjust shim pack thickness in Step 6. Repeat Steps 8 through Step 9.

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (B) onto transfer gears (1). The weight of transfer gears (1) is approximately 195 kg (430 lb).
Position transfer gears (1), as shown.

Lower the temperature of bearing cup (20). Install bearing cup (20). Bearing cup (20) must be fully seated after the temperature has raised to room temperature.
Install orifices (19). Install tube assembly (17). Install bolt (18).

Raise the temperature of bearing cone (16). Install bearing cone (16) onto gear (15). Bearing cone (16) must be fully seated after the temperature has lowered to room temperature.
Repeat step 15 for the bearing cone on the other side of gear (15).

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto gear (15). The weight of gear (15) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

Install shim pack (14). Shim pack (14) must equal 1.5 mm (0.06 inch).

Use Tooling (E) in order to install lip seal (12). Install lip seal (12). Lip seal (12) must be flush with bearing cage (10).

Lower the temperature of bearing cup (11). Install bearing cup (11) into bearing cage (10). Bearing cup (11) must be fully seated after the temperature has raised to room temperature.
Install O-ring seal (13).

Use two people in order to install bearing cage (10). Install bolts (9). Rotate gear (15) several times as bolts (9) are tightened.

Position Tooling (G) on gear (15). Attach Tooling (H) and a suitable lifting device onto gear (15). Raise gear (15). Record end play on Tooling (G). End play must be between 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch) to 0.2 mm (0.0079 inch).
Adjust shim pack thickness in Step 17. Repeat Steps 22 through Step 23 until the correct end play is obtained.

Install yoke assembly (8). Install O-ring seal (7).

Install retainer (6). Install bolt (5).

Install speed sensor (4). Tighten speed sensor (4) to a torque of 37 4 N m (27 3 lb ft).

Position guard assembly (3). Install bolts (2) into transfer gears (1).End By:
Connect the transmission and transfer gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Transfer Gears - Connect".
