This procedure should be used to initially bleed the brake system after refilling when all the fluid had been drained from the system. This procedure should also be used to bleed the system when it is suspected that air in the system is causing less than desired braking capability.After bleeding the brakes, let the machine set for a minimum of four hours (or preferably overnight). Then check the brake operation again. The brake line system pressure should reach the specified level with one normal application of the pedal (take 2 to 3 seconds to go to full stroke of the pedal). If the brake pedal does not feel "hard," the system should be bled again using this procedure.Tools, Equipment and Supplies Needed
1. Pressure type brake bleeder with a capacity of at least 3.8 liter (1 U.S. gal). An example is the Snapon® model BB400A.2. A clear plastic container or beaker of at least 3.8 liter (1 U.S. gal) capacity.

Illustration 1 shows an assembled FT2268 Brake Bleeder Adapter and identifies the components needed. Assemble the components as shown in Illustration 1. Plug the existing vent hole in the cap. Remove the center section of the gasket as shown. The 5P4653 Bulkhead Connector has 1/4in. NPTF female threads. This thread accommodates the quick-disconnect nipples that are used with most brake bleeder kits. It may be necessary to select another fitting if this fitting is not compatible with the fitting on the end of the hose of your brake bleeder.4. BRAKE FLUID (BF)(4CJ1-435) Use heavy duty hydraulic brake fluid certified by the oil supplier to meet SAE J1703f, DOT-3 or DOT-4 specifications. HYDRAULIC BRAKE OIL (4CJ436-UP) Use SAE0W20 engine oil or Mercon/Dexron transmission fluid. DO NOT USE BRAKE FLUID.
Failure to perform the brake bleeding procedure exactly as written may result in reduced braking.
Air must not be in the brake hydraulic system. Air in the system can prevent complete brake application and it is possible that the traction belts can not be stopped. The brake hydraulic system must be bled (air removed) when any part of the system has been disconnected or installed.
