FIG. 1
FIG. 2
FIG. 31. Place the body of the pump on bench with the isolation plate retainer cusp to your right. The cusp is pointed out in Fig. 1.2. Coat the inside of the pump body with clean hydraulic oil.
FIG. 43. The two isolation plates are slightly different. Select the one which has rounded edges as shown in Fig. 2 and install it in the bottom of the pump, with the rounded edges down in the proper location. For both the top and bottom plates, the long end should go to the drive shaft side of the pump.4. Install the O-ring retainer in place on the opposite side of the bores from the isolation plate.5. Place the back-up ring in position around the bores as shown in Fig. 3.6. Install the O-ring against the back-up ring insuring that it seats itself in the groove in the edge of the back-up ring.
FIG. 57. Select one of the pressure plates and note the bronze side. One of the sides has a rounded trap slot milled into it. Fig. 4. This side faces the discharge side of the pump. The discharge side is opposite the isolation plate.8. Keep the plate as level as possible and slide it into position in the bottom of the body. Fig. 5. DO NOT FORCE THE PLATE.9. Check the nameplate on the body of the pump to determine pump rotation. For example, if the model number is followed by the letters AF, pump rotation is COUNTERCLOCKWISE. If the model number is followed by CF, pump rotation is CLOCKWISE.10. If the pump has clockwise rotation the drive shaft gear goes in the bore closest to you. If it is counterclockwise the drive shaft gear goes in the bore farthest from you.
FIG. 6
FIG. 711. Insert the drive shaft gear in the proper bore. DO NOT DROP INTO PLACE. Dropping the drive shaft will damage the bronze pressure plate.12. Install the idler gear in the other bore. Fig. 7. The long journal on the idler should be up.
FIG. 813. Select the remaining pressure plate. With the bronze side down and the rounded trap slot facing the discharge side, gently lower the plate into position over the gears. Fig. 8.14. Slide the two steel rings over the shafts and seat them in the recesses in the pressure plate.
FIG. 915. Install the remaining isolation plate on top of the pressure plate. Either side up is right. Fig. 9. Install the retainer ring and back-up ring. Insert the O-ring in the same manner as in the bottom of the pump.16. Examine the seal. If it appears to be damaged or leakage was previously observed, replace it. See the topic SEAL REPLACEMENT.17. Gently wipe the machined surfaces of the flange with a fine emery cloth. Wash in a solvent and blow dry.18. Install the body O-ring in the groove in the flange. Use a
