A quality issue in the Power Shift Transmission may cause gears to slip. The quality issue may also result in no power output. The weld between the shaft and the clutch drum is cracking on 147-0261 Output Shaft . The weld failure will lead to loss of pressure. This will eventually cause the number 2 or number 3 clutch pack to fail. This will prevent the transmission from moving in third gear forward and second gear reverse. The transmission must be removed and rebuilt. Only Power Shift Transmissions use this shaft.Solution
If third gear forward and the second gear reverse are slipping or there is no drive from these gears, then check the condition of the transmission filter. If the filter is clogged with material from the clutch or the oil is very black then the 147-0261 Output Shaft could be cracked. If the number two clutch or number three clutch pressure is low then the output shaft may be cracked. Disassemble the transmission and repair the transmission. Be sure that the shaft is inspected for any cracks around the weld of the clutch housing. Replace the shafts with the same part number until further notice.Note: If any new shafts are ordered the shafts may arrive with slight pitting on the face of the clutch. The cause of the failure is not due to the pitting. The pitted shaft is ok to use. This applies to all three shafts in the transmission 147-0261 Output Shaft , 147-0257 Input Shaft and 173-0332 Shaft As .Please report the failure. Report the failure to the Dealer Service Network system. When you file a report be sure to include the serial number of the transmission. Be sure that you include the identification numbers on the shaft that failed. This will be followed by a second service letter with more directions.
