Lower the temperature of two bushings (5) and spacer (6). Use Tooling (A) and a hammer to install the bushings.
Install the cutting edges to the upper jaw and to the lower jaw. Refer to Service Manual, "Cutting Edges - Remove and Install".
Install an appropriate nylon lifting sling and lifting chains to the upper jaw. Refer to Table 2 for the weight of the upper jaw.

Apply clean grease to bushing (1). Install the bushing to the jaw. Lower upper jaw (3) onto the lower jaw.

Use a feeler gauge or another appropriate measuring tool. Check the clearance between the upper jaw and the lower jaw. Measure the gap on the side of the jaw that is shown in the above illustration. Determine a shim pack for this side of the jaw. The clearance between the cutting edges should not exceed 1 mm (0.0394 inch).
Determine the shim pack for the remaining gap on the other side of the jaw. The clearance between the jaws must not exceed 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch).
Remove the bushing and lift the upper jaw in order to install the shims. Install the bushing. Recheck the gap between the upper jaw and the lower jaw. If the clearance in the jaw is not within the specification, install more shims accordingly.
Recheck the clearance between the cutting edges. If the clearance is not within the specification, an adjustment will need to be made. The shims behind the cutting edges may be altered in order to make this adjustment. If the shims behind the cutting edges cannot be altered, the shims in the hinge of the jaw will need to be readjusted.

After the adjustments have been made, install the six bolts that secure bushing (2) to lower jaw (1) .
