Some 2P4005 Engine Oil Filters used on 3500 seriesengines need to be removed from parts stock. All 2P4005 Engine Oil Filtersmanufactured between April 29, 2003 (date code MDNRNE) and December 31,2003 (date code EUUMNE) are structurally different than the 2P4005 Filtersmanufactured before and after the recall dates. The 2P4005 Filter is afull flow spin-on oil filter used on 3500 engines.ACTION REQUIRED
The filters can be easily identified through avisual inspection of the threaded end of the filter. Illustration 1 belowshows the difference in design. Filters being removed from inventory havethreads extruding out away from the filter rather then threads thatextrude in towards the filter in the design prior to April 29, 2003and after December 31, 2003.Note: 2P4005 Filters manufactured beforeApril 29, 2003 and after December 31, 2003 are not being suspect and canstill be used on 3500 engines.Illustration 1SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all 2P4005 Filters removedfrom parts stock.PARTS DISPOSITION
