Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Open the engine hood.

Drain water separator bowl (1) into a suitable container.
Turn lock ring (2) counterclockwise in order to remove water separator bowl (1) .

Disconnect two hose assemblies (4) from fuel priming pump assembly (3) .
Disconnect electrical connector (5) .

Cut wire tie (6) .
Remove three bolts (7) and fuel priming pump assembly.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove primary fuel filter element (8) .Installation Procedure

Install fuel priming pump assembly (3) and three bolts (7) .
Install new wire tie (6) .

Connect electrical connector (5) .
Connect two hose assemblies (4) to fuel priming pump assembly (3) .

Install primary fuel filter element (8) .

Turn lock ring (2) clockwise in order to install water separator bowl (1) .
Tighten the drain valve on the water separator bowl.
Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7459 for the correct procedure.
Close the engine hood.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
