HARNESS AS-REAR 2639499 - Caterpillar

Start By:
Remove the belt tightener. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Belt Tightener - Remove".

Remove four bolts (1) and the washers that secure bracket (2) to the engine. Remove bracket (2) from the engine.

Loosen bolt (3) that secures idler pulley (4) to the mounting bracket. Rotate idler pulley (4) in order to remove V-belt (5) from the crankshaft pulley.

Remove three bolts (6) and the washers that secure crankshaft pulley (7) to bushing (8) .

Install bolts (6) and the washers to the three offset holes. Place a suitable lifting sling around the crankshaft pulley. Attach a suitable hoist to the lifting sling. Tighten three bolts (6) evenly in order to separate crankshaft pulley (7) from bushing (8). The weight of the crankshaft pulley is 41 kg (90 lb).

Remove two bolts (9) and the washers that secure damper (10) to the damper adapter.

Tool (A) must be modified in order to be used as guide bolts. Position Tool (A) in a suitable vise. Remove the heads of the Tool (A) in order to use Tool (A) as guide bolts. Install Tool (A) to the damper, as shown. Remove remaining eight bolts (9) that secure damper (10) to the damper adapter.

Attach a suitable lifting sling to damper (10). Attach a suitable hoist to the lifting sling. Remove damper (10) from the engine. The weight of the damper is 54 kg (120 lb). Remove the tooling from the engine.

Remove the set screw that secures key (11) to stub shaft (12). Remove key (11) and bushing (8) from stub shaft (12) .

Remove two bolts (13) and the washers that secure stub shaft (12) and damper adapter (14) to the crankshaft.

Install Tool (B) to the crankshaft, as shown. Remove remaining four bolts (13) from stub shaft (12) and damper adapter (14) .

Remove stub shaft (12) from the engine.

Attach Tool (C) to damper adapter (14). Attach a suitable lifting sling to Tool (C). Attach a suitable hoist to the lifting sling. Remove damper adapter (14) from the engine. The weight of the damper adapter is 39 kg (85 lb). Remove the tooling from the crankshaft.
