HARNESS AS-ENGINE 2698103 - Caterpillar

1. Start the machine, and put the bucket flat on the floor and the stick in a vertical position as shown.2. Remove the two nuts (1) and retaining bolt (3). Remove pin (4). The weight of the pin is 23 kg (50 lb). Pull link assembly out of the bucket, and remove two O-ring seals (2). 3. Fasten a hoist to link assembly (5). Raise the link assembly as shown. Remove the two nuts (6) and retaining (7). Remove pin (8) from the links and the bucket cylinder rod. The weight of pin (8) is 20 kg (45 lb). Remove link assembly (5). The weight of the link assembly is 45 kg (100 lb). 4. Remove two lip seals (9), four lip seals (10), bearings (11) and bearings (12) from the link assembly. 5. Remove bolt (13) and the washer that secure two shims (14) from the left link. 6. Remove two nuts (17) and retainer bolt (15) from pin (16).7. Remove pin (16), the right hand link and the left hand link. The weight of pin (16) is 14 kg (30 lb). The weight of the right link is 14 kg (30 lb). The weight of the left link is 16 kg (35 lb). 8. Remove lip seal (18) from each side of the stick. Using Tooling (A), remove bearing (19) from each side of the stick. The following steps are for the installation of the bucket linkage group.9. Check the condition of O-ring seals (2). If the O-ring seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Make sure the stick pin bore, the link assembly bores, the link bores, the pins and the O-ring seals are thoroughly clean and free of dirt prior to installation of the rod links.
10. Install two bearings (19) in the stick at the stick-to-rod link pin joint. Lower the temperature of bearings (19) and install them in the pin bore until each one is 7.5 0.8 mm (.30 .03 in) below the outside surface of the stick.11. Using Tooling (B), install two lip seals (18) in the pin bore of the stick. Install each seal with the sealing lip facing toward the outside of the pin bore, and until each one makes contact with the bearing. 12. Install bearings (11) and bearings (12) in the link assembly as shown. Lower the temperature of the bearings, and install them in the pin bores. Install bearings (11) until each one is 7.5 0.8 mm (.30 .03 in) below the outside surface of the link assembly. Install bearings (12) until each one is 8.0 0.8 mm (.31 .03 in) below the outside of the link assembly.13. Using Tooling (B), install two lip seals (9) in the pin bore of the link assembly. Install each seal with the sealing lip facing toward the outside of the pin bore, and until each one makes contact with the bearing.14. Using Tooling (B), install four lip seals (10) in the
