Use a suitable lifting device to remove spider (43) and pinion gear assemblies (42) . The weight of spider (43) and the weight of pinion gear assemblies (42) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).
Remove pinion gear assemblies (42) from spider (43) .

Place one pinion gear assembly (43) on Tooling (A) . Bend the locking tab of nut lock (44) away from nut (45) . Use Tooling (B) to remove nut (45) . Remove nut lock (44) .

Type 2 DifferentialNote: There are two types of differentials offered. Type 1 uses thrust washers and has corresponding differential housings. Type 2 uses thrust bearings and also has corresponding housings.
Use two people to remove the remaining differential bevel gear (52) . The weight of differential bevel gear (52) is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).
If equipped, remove thrust washer (53) .
If equipped, remove thrust bearing assembly (53A) and race (53B) .

Mark the position of ring gear (54) on the flanged half of the differential housing. Remove bolts (55) and nuts (56) from ring gear (54) . use a suitable lifting device in order to remove the flanged half of the differential housing from ring gear (54) . The weight of the flanged half of the differential housing is approximately 77 kg (170 lb). The weight of ring gear (54) is approximately 98 kg (220 lb).

Remove hose assembly (57) from pinion bearing cage (58) . Remove fittings (59) . Remove bolts (60) . Use Tooling (D) to separate pinion bearing cage (58) from carrier housing (61) .Note: Pinion bearing cage (58) has six plugs that were installed with an epoxy adhesive. Do not attempt to remove the plugs.

Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device in order to remove pinion bearing cage (58) and shims (62) from carrier housing (61) . The weight of pinion bearing cage (58) is approximately 55 kg (121 lb).
