Direct Injection Engine
1. Move the transmission control lock lever to NEUTRAL. Move the parking/emergency brake control to PARK. 2. Move all controls to HOLD or OFF. 3. Move the centershift control to LOCK. 4. Turn the disconnect switch ON. 5. Observe all indicator lights. All indicator lights should be ON except the differential unlock indicator light which should be OFF.
Do not turn the disconnect switch OFF while the engine is running.
The low air pressure indicator will not light if the air pressure is above 60 PSI (415 kPa).6. Apply the service brakes several times until the low air pressure indicator comes on. The low air pressure horn should sound. 7. Move the governor control lever to half engine speed. 8. Depress the accelerator past detent. 9. If the starting temperature is below 60°F (16°C). Push and hold the hydraulic unloading valve rod down until the engine starts. 10. Push in and turn the START switch to START. Release the switch when the engine starts. When starting temperatures are below 0°F (-18°C), hold the hydraulic unloading valve rod down for 1 to 2 minutes after the engine starts.
With the engine running at low idle, release the hydraulic unloading valve rod slowly.
If the low oil pressure indicator does not go OFF within 6 seconds, stop the engine, investigate and correct the cause.
If the engine does not start, let the starter cool for 2 minutes, then repeat starting procedure.Below 32°F (0°C)
1. Perform steps 1-9 on page 34 and 35.2. Turn the START switch to START.
Do not use excessive starting fluid during starting or after the engine is running.
Do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds. Allow two minutes for the starter to cool before cranking again. To prevent battery discharge, turn the disconnect switch OFF when the engine is stopped. For starting below 0°F (-18°C), use of optional cold starting aids are recommended. Heating of coolant and/or use of extra battery capacity may be required.3. After cranking begins, push the starting fluid control switch and release it immediately. Use additional starting fluid about every two seconds until the engine is running smoothly.
