7. Install tool setup (C) and remove the bearing cone from input pinion.8. Remove the spacer from input shaft. 9. Use tool setup (D) to remove the bearing cone from input shaft. 10. Remove the bolts (9) from bearing cage. Use two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws to remove the shims and bearing cage (8) from housing. Put identification on shims for use during assembly of lower unit.11. Remove the lip-type seal (10) from cage.12. Use tool setup (A) to remove the bearing cup from cage (8).13. Remove cover (7) from housing. 14. Remove bolt (13), washer, and input gear (12).15. Remove the eight bolts (11) from housing.16. Remove input shaft housing (16), bearing cage (14), and shims (15). 17. Install two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws (17) and remove the bearing cage and shims from input shaft housing. Put identification on shims for use during assembly of lower unit.18. Use a hammer and punch to remove the bearing cup (18) from bearing cage. Remove O-ring seal (19) from cage. 19. Remove the worm shaft (20) from housing. 20. Use tool setup (E) to remove the two bearing cones from worm shaft. 21. Remove the three bolts (22) from adapter. Use two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws to remove adapter (24) and shims from housing. Put identification on shims for use during assembly.22. Use a hammer and punch to remove the bearing cup from adapter (24). Remove O-ring seal.23. Fasten a hoist and turn the worm gear housing over with cage (23) up.24. Remove nuts (21). Use two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws to remove cage (23) and shims. Put identification on shims. 25. Use tool setup (A) to remove the bearing cup from bearing cage. Remove O-ring seal. 26. Remove the worm gear (25) from housing. 27. Install tool setup (F) and remove the lower bearing cone from worm gear hub. Remove tool setup (F).28. Remove the bolts and nuts from worm gear. Install tool setup (F) and remove the upper bearing cone from worm gear hub. 29. Remove the lip-type seal from housing using tool setup (G).30. Use a hammer and punch to remove the bearing cup from worm gear housing.Assemble Power Control Lower Unit
1. Use tool setup (A) to install the bearing cup in worm gear housing.2. Install the seal in housing using tool setup (B) with lip of seal away from bearing cup. 3. Put worm gear (1) in position on hub, and install the bolts, washers, and nuts. The bolts and nuts can be installed on either side of gear, but the washers must be installed against the worm gear. Tighten the nuts to 95 10 lb.ft. (13,1 1,4 mkg).4. Heat the bearing cones for worm gear hub in oil at a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the bearing cones on worm gear hub.5. Put the worm gear in position in housing. 6. Install the bearing cup and O-ring seal in bearing cage (2).7. Install cage (2) with original thickness of shims (3). Install and tighten the nuts.
