Remove the fuel tank cap (1) and the strainer (2).
Seal the tank in order to prevent contamination.
Disassemble the fuel cap. Replace the filter elements on the fuel tank cap.

Old Fuel Cap
Turn over the fuel cap.
Remove the filter cover (1a) by separating from the fuel cap.
Remove the filter and replace the filter.
Snap two parts of the fuel cap back together.
Wash the cap and the strainer. Wash these components in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the seal of the fuel cap. Replace the seal if the seal is damaged.
Put a light coat of oil on the cap components.
Install the strainer.
Assemble the fuel cap and install the fuel cap. Fuel Cap (Type 2)

New Fuel Cap
Remove two screws on the underside of the fuel cap that secure the filter kit (1b) .
Remove the filter kit and replace the filter kit.
Install two screws in order to secure the filter kit to the fuel cap.
Wash the cap and the strainer. Wash these components in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the seal of the fuel cap. Replace the seal if the seal is damaged.
Put a light coat of oil on the cap components.
Install the strainer.
Assemble the fuel cap and install the fuel cap.
