(10) Oil reservoir The output transfer gears are at the output side of the transmission. The planetary output shaft of the transmission is connected to a drive shaft by splines. The drive shaft is connected to drive gear (2) by splines.Drive gear (2) is engaged with idler gear (4). Idler gear (4) is engaged with driven gear (6). Driven gear (6) is connected to shaft (7) by splines. Yoke assemblies (8) and (9) are connected to shaft (7) by splines. Yoke assembly (8) is connected to the short drive shaft that goes to the front differential. Yoke assembly (9) is connected to the drive shaft that goes to the rear differential.The flow of power in the output transfer gears goes from the transmission adapter shaft to drive gear (2). The power then flows from drive gear (2) to idler gear (4). From idler gear (4), the power flows to driven gear (6). The power then flows from driven gear (6) to shaft (7).At shaft (7) the flow of power divides. Some of the power goes from yoke assembly (8) through a drive shaft to the front differential. Some of the power goes from yoke assembly (9) through three drive shafts and two drive shaft support bearings to the rear differential.Shims (3) are used to adjust the end play of gear (2). Shims (5) are used to adjust the end play of gear (4).The output transfer gears lubrication, comes from the oil that is thrown inside the transfer case. Since the transfer gear case is also the reservoir for the transmission circuit, all return oil goes to the bottom of the case. The movement of the gears in the oil causes oil to be thrown on all of the components.
