( 1 ) Available substituteNote: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hose assemblies and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect lubrication hose (1) from the plug (2) at each end of the steering link.

Use a screwdriver in order to remove retaining ring (3) and plug (2) at each end of the steering link (4) .

Install Tooling (A) in order to hold the ball stud (5) while the locknut (6) is being loosened.

Note: Do not remove the locknut (6) completely from the ball stud (5) until the ball stud has been broken loose from the taper.
Use Tooling (B) in order to loosen the locknut (6). Loosen the locknut until the locknut is even with the bottom of the ball stud (5) .

Position Tooling (C) just between the steering link (4) and steering arm (7), as shown.
Strike Tooling (C) with a hammer.
Repeat Steps 3 through 6 in order to loosen ball stud (6) at the opposite end of the steering link (4) .

Position Tooling (D) in order to support the weight of the steering link (4). The weight of the steering link is approximately 123 kg (271 lb).
Remove locknut (6) from each ball stud (5) .
Remove steering link (4) .
Repeat Steps 1 through 10 in order to remove the opposite steering link.
