Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove oil filter housing (4). Discard the used oil filter element that is inside of housing (3). Additional oil will drain when you remove the filter. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Inspect seal (2) on housing (4). If the seal is damaged, replace the seal with a new seal.
Install new oil filter element (3) into housing (1) .
Install housing (4) and the new element into filter base (1). Tighten the housing 55 5 N m (41 4 lb ft). Do not use an air wrench to tighten.
Make sure that the transmission is in NEUTRAL. Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check for any leaks
