Remove Idlers
start by:a) remove track roller frame 1. Remove two bolts (1), washers and cap (2) from each side of the idler. 2. Fasten a hoist as shown and remove idler (3) from the bogie. The weight of the idler is 1250 lb. (563 kg).Install Idlers
1. Fasten a hoist and put idler (1) in position on the bogie.
Make sure pin (2) in the cap is in alignment with the hole (4) in the shaft.
2. Install cap (3) on each side of the idler.3. Install the bolts (5) that hold the caps in position. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1000 100 lb.ft. (1350 135 N m).end by:a) install track roller frameDisassemble Idlers
start by:a) remove idlers 1. Remove plug (1) from the stopper.2. Put a screwdriver along the outside diameter of stopper (2). Put oil on the outside diameter of the stopper. Do this all around the stopper. Use a screwdriver and remove stopper (2).3. Put the idler in a vertical position between the forks of a lift truck. Put a block in front of the roller. Oil will drain out of the shaft. 4. Remove twelve bolts (3) and retainer (4) from each side of the idler. 5. Remove O-ring seal (5) and Duo-Cone seal (6) from each retainer (4). Put identification on the Duo-Cone seals for correct installation.
Be extra careful not to cause damage to the Duo-Cone seals when the shaft is removed.
6. Fasten a hoist to shaft (7) and remove the shaft from the idler. The weight is 100 lb. (45 kg). 7. Remove Duo-Cone seals (8) from shaft (7). Put identification on the Duo-Cone seals for correct installation.Assemble Idlers
The rubber seals and all surfaces that make contact with the seals must be clean and dry with no damage to the surface when the Duo-Cone seals are installed. After installation of the seals, put oil on the contact surfaces of the Duo-Cone seals. 1. Install Duo-Cone seals (1) on each end of shaft (2) with tool (A). 2. Put idler (3) between the forks of a lift truck as shown. Put a block of wood in front of the idler.
Be extra careful not to cause damage to the Duo-Cone seals when the shaft is installed.
3. Fasten a hoist and slide shaft (2) in position in the idler. 4. Put Duo-Cone seal in position on tool (A). Put retainer (4) in position on the Duo-Cone seal. 5. Use tooling (A), (C) and a press and install the Duo-Cone seal in each retainer (4). 6. Install O-ring seal (6) in each of the retainers.7. Put retainers (5) in position on the idler. 8. Install bolts (7) that hold retainers (5) in position. Tighten bolts (7) evenly to a torque of 100 11 lb.ft. (135 15 N m).
TYPICAL EXAMPLE9. Put the idler in a horizontal position. Install tool (B) and check the end play (clearance) between the shaft and the retainers. The clearance must be .009 to .039 in. (0.22 to 0.98 mm). 10.
