The indicator provides audible and visual signals to indicate the longitudinal (forward), stability condition of the machine. It is powered by the machine electrical system and is activated when the engine start key switch is turned to the ON position. A visual display unit is located at the left side of the dashpanel. The display can be set to give forward stability indications for operating on tires, or if equipped, on outriggers.An illuminating scale gives an indication of the current forward stability compared to the stability limit of the machine.The Scale consists of five light emitting diodes (LED's). Starting from the bottom the first three are green, the next one is amber and the top one is red.More LED's are illuminated as the forward stability limit of the machine is approached. The stability limit depends on the type of attachment and load, the boom angle and length, and if the machine is equipped with outriggers, whether the outriggers are raised or lowered. When one or more green LED (3) is illuminated, the machine is operating within forward stability limits.When the amber LED (2) is illuminated, the forward stability limit of the machine has been reached. An audible alam sounds intermittently when the amber LED is illuminated.When the red LED (1) is illuminated, the forward stability limit of the machine has been exceeded (overload). When the red LED is illuminated the audible alarm sounds continuously.Indicator lamp (4) is illuminated when switch (5) is operated to set the indicator for operation with the outriggers lowered. Indicator lamp (6) is illuminated when the indicator is set for operation with the outriggers raised.Switch (7) is for testing the operation of the illuminating scale LED's and the audible alarm. When depressed all of the LED,s should illuminate and the alarm should sound continuously.
