This is a 1.5-hour job
The inspection is a 0.5 hour job. If a rework of the packaging is required, an additional 1.0 hour will be allowed per kit that requires repackaging in a wooden crate.

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
Certain loose parts kits needs to be inspected on the products listed below. These kits may not have been packaged correctly from the factory. This may void the Marine Classification Society certification, and may result in personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 06Jan2010 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed for your added safety and satisfaction.

Rework Procedure
For the following serial numbers, inspect the packaging of the corresponding parts kits specified below. Each kit specified below should be packaged in a wooden crate.
- If the kit is in a wooden crate, no further action is needed.
- If the kit is in a cardboard box instead of a wooden crate, send an email to Marine_Product_Support. Include "REBE5708" in the subject line. In the email, include the engine serial number, the part number of the improperly packaged kit, the dealer code, and a shipping address. Caterpillar will ship a wooden crate with further instructions on how to properly package the parts.
