Beadless Tires With Ribbed SidewallsA longer guide pin can be fabricated for easier assembly of rims used with 100" beadless tires with ribbed sidewalls. The sidewalls of these tires are more rigid than the earlier tires with the smooth sidewalls. The more rigid sidewalls hold the rims farther apart when they are first installed in the carcass. The longer FT1710 Guide Pins can be used for aligning the holes.
Three of the guide pins are needed to install a rim. They are used the same way as the guide pins shown in Special Instruction, "Service Procedure and Tools for Caterpillar Beadless Tires", Form No. SEHS7165-01. Drawings of the FT1710 Guide Pin Group are available from your Division Service Manager.
