Opened access door showing ECMs The Chassis electronic control module (ECM) is the center ECM that is located in the front compartment of the cab. An access door is located in the bottom front exterior of the cab. The Chassis ECM receives operator inputs and sends out corresponding outputs via the harness.Inputs
Input devices inform the Chassis ECM about machine operating conditions and operator desires. The machine has several input devices, including switches and sensors. Switches provide an open, a ground, or a +battery to the Chassis ECM. Sensors provide a constantly changing signal to the Chassis ECM. Outputs
The Chassis ECM responds to decisions by sending output electrical signals to machine components. The outputs can create an action or provide information to other ECM's.Input/Output
The Cat® dat-link allows the sharing of information between ECMs. The Cat® dat-link is bidirectional, allowing information to be sent and received. A module identifier (MID) is assigned to all of the ECMs that use the Cat® dat-link. The MID for the Chassis ECM is MID 087.
