Before you disconnect any line from the air compressor, purge the system of pressurized air.Failure to purge the pressurized air before you service the air compressor can result in personal injury.
To help prevent personal injury when the tooling is removed, relieve all pressure in the system slowly by using an air regulator and a valve assembly.
A test bench may be used to test a rebuilt air compressor. The test bench must have the following:
15 psi oil supply
Oil return line
Coolant line
Air reservoir (at least 1500 cubic inches of volume)
Air compressor drive (2100 rpm)
Test lines and fittingsMount the air compressor to the test bench and connect all required lines and fittings.The air compressor may be tested for the buildup time. Measure the cycle time of the air compressor from 586 kPa (85 psi) to 690 kPa (100 psi). The cycle time should be less than 25 seconds. During the test, check for noisy operation and air leakage.Check for proper operation of the unloader mechanism. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Discharge Valve Leakage - Test" for more information.
