electronic control module (ECM) monitors crankcase pressure through the crankcase pressure sensor. The crankcase pressure sensor is mounted on the camshaft cover. The sensor provides an analog signal to the engine's ECM that indicates crankcase pressure. If the ECM receives a signal that indicates that the crankcase pressure is high, the ECM sends a warning via the data link to the machine's monitoring panel. The warning can be displayed on either a vital information display system (VIDS) or on a service engine lamp. An event will be logged in the ECM. The event can be viewed with the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). The event can also be cleared without a password by using the Cat ET.
