ACTION REQUIRED
Fault code described for any engine with aftertreatment (Tier 4 interim or final) may plug the CEM unit resulting in excessive backpressure and loss of power.

Refer to Special Instruction, M0077352, "Soot Antennae Check for C7.1 Engines" for the following check instructions:
If soot antennas are broken or damaged:
a. Take a fuel sample and check the level of Sulphur.
Note: Incorrect Specification of fuel (High Sulphur) can cause similar symptoms:
Refer to SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations"
Refer to Special Instruction, M0077352, "Soot Antennae Check for C7.1 Engines" If Sulfur content is above 15 ppm (in accordance with Caterpillar Fluid Recommendation SEBU6250), the machine is not eligible for applying this program.
All rework costs must be charged to the customer due to incorrect specification of fuel usage.
Note: It is also recommended that a regular fuel sampling program is initiated.
b. If Sulfur content is below 15 ppm (in accordance with Caterpillar Fluid Recommendation), check machine and if machine is working in enclosed waste area we may suspect that Siloxane gases ingestion is the root cause of the problem and CEM unit must be replaced.
Note: It is also recommended to increase site ventilation in order to reduce engine Siloxane ingestion.

If there has been a previous repair, part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
Note: Picture of damaged or broken soot antennae must be attached when submitting the claim.
Note: Fuel sample Sulfur content result must be attached when submitting the claim.
