Information:

START BY:a) remove fuel injection pump housing and governor 1. Put the fuel injection pump and governor in position on tool (A). The timing pin prevents rotation of the injection pump camshaft during removal of the sleeve.2. Remove the bolt from the cover over the torque spring. Turn the fuel injection pump camshaft until timing pin (1) or tool (C) can be installed in the groove (slot) in the fuel injection pump camshaft.
Do not hit the bolt or sleeve. Damage to the unit can be the result.
3. Install tool (B) in the threads of sleeve (3). Tighten tool (B) and remove sleeve (3).4. Remove bolts (4) that hold the transfer pump to the housing. Remove transfer pump (2) from the housing. 5. Remove idler gear (6) from the transfer pump. Remove O-ring seal (5).6. Remove two lip type seals from the transfer pump body. 7. Remove drive gear (8) from the shaft. Remove key (7) from the shaft. Install Fuel Transfer Pump
*Bolt is modified to prevent thread damage. To do this, grind a 2 to 4 mm (.079 to . 157 in.) bevel on the end of the bolt.
Always Be Careful Not To Scratch Or Cause Damage To The Machined Surface Of The Transfer Pump Body.
1. Install the inner lip type seal in the transfer pump body with tool (A). The lip of the seal must be toward the pump gears as shown.2. Install the outer lip type seal in the transfer pump body with tool (A). The lip of the seal must be toward the outside as shown. 3. Install O-ring seal (2) and idler gear (1) on the transfer pump body. 4. Install the key and drive gear (3) on the shaft. 5. Put tool (B) in position on the shaft and install body (4) over the shaft and on the pump housing. Install the bolts that hold the body to the housing.
Make a replacement of sleeve (5) with a new part and put it in position on the camshaft. Do not use the old part again. The pump camshaft puts new serrations (splines) in sleeve (5) when it is pushed on the camshaft. If an old part is used again, it can slip (slide around) on the camshaft after it is installed.
6. Put a new sleeve (5) in position on the camshaft. Make sure timing pin (6) or tool (D) is in place so the camshaft will not turn when the sleeve is installed. 7. Install sleeve (5) on the camshaft with tool (C).
Do not hit the sleeve with a hammer to install it. This will put end force on the camshaft and cause damage to the other components in the pump housing.
8. The end clearance of the camshaft must be 0.58 0.46 mm (.023 .018 in.) after sleeve (5) is installed.END BY:a) install fuel injection pump housing and governor
