Do not weld in areas if there is a strong movement of air or in temperatures of less than 16 deg C (61 deg F).The following welding processes are acceptable for this procedure:
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) Use 35 5 cubic feet per hour of shielding gas (75% argon and 25% carbon dioxide). The AWS Class ER70S-3 is a welding process that can be used with the following welders: Lincoln L-50 and Hobart HB-25. Comparable equipment may be used.
Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) Use E7018 electrodes in this DCEP process.References

Acquire a plug drill with a 15.5 mm (0.61 inch) diameter. Also,a magnetic drill stand will be used.Note: Another means of drilling may be used. One must be able to drill through only the top 2.5 mm (0.10 inch) of the cab roof skin without drilling into the plate below it.Note: If the lower plate for the ROPS is hit with the tip of the drill, the cab will be considered no longer certified.Repair Procedure
Welding of the Cab Roof
Remove the cab headliner from the inside of the cab. Protect the inside of the cab during welding of the roof.
