(7) Track shoeThe machine is equipped with four legs. Each leg is equipped with an undercarriage group. The rotating components of each undercarriage group include the following:
One single-piece drive sprocket (3) which is mounted to final drive unit (2)
Track rollers (4)
One idler (6)Note: The undercarriage groups in the front of the machine use a rear drive sprocket and a front idler. The undercarriage group at the rear left of the machine also uses a rear drive sprocket and a front idler. The undercarriage group at the rear right of the machine uses a front drive sprocket and a rear idler.Note: The undercarriage groups in the front of the machine have two track rollers. The undercarriage groups at the rear of the machine have three track rollers.The track group is made up of padded track shoes (7) that are mounted to the drive chain assembly. The drive chain assembly consists of two chains (5). These chains are joined with pins and bushings through a compression fit.Rear idler (6) and track rollers (4) ride on the rails of chains (5). Drive sprocket (3) rides on the bushing that connects the chains together.Each undercarriage group is equipped with a track tension cylinder. The tension cylinders are mounted between track frame (1) and the rear idler shaft.Note: Refer to Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, "Auxiliary Hydraulic System", Location of Components for more information on the track tension system.Each undercarriage group is equipped with a single-speed, planetary final drive unit (2). Each propulsion motor drives a track through a final drive unit. The final drive units contain the parking brakes. These brakes are spring applied and hydraulically released. Charge oil is used to release the brakes. The housing of the final drive contains gear oil. The planetary gears are splash lubricated.

(9) Final drive unitThe machine can be equipped with four wheels in place of tracks. In this configuration, each leg is equipped with wheel (8) which is mounted to final drive unit (9). The final drive units contain the parking brakes.Wheeled vehicles provide some advantages of increased work site mobility and versatility. Wheeled vehicles also reduce the marring of the work surface that may occur with tracked vehicles.
