(1) Air compressorAir compressor (1) is mounted on the front face of the left side of the engine block. The air compressor governor controls the operating pressure.The air compressor governor senses the pressure in the air tank. If the pressure in the air tank is above the minimum cut-in pressure, the air compressor governor will not allow the air compressor to supply air to the air tanks. The air compressor continues to operate while the engine is operating.When the pressure in the air tank lowers to the minimum cut-in pressure, the piston of the air compressor governor is returned by a spring force. This blocks the flow of air from the air tanks to the unloading valves of the air compressor. The unloading valves close and the air compressor delivers air to the air tanks.When the pressure in the air tanks reaches the cut-out setting, the air pressure moves the piston of the air compressor governor against the spring. This allows air to flow from the unloading valves. The compressed air acts against the unloading valves. This holds the unloading valves open. With the unloading valves in the OPEN position, the delivery of air from the air compressor is blocked.
