1. Heat bearing (2) to a temperature of 135°C (275°F). Install it on the pinion.2. Install retainer ring (1). 3. Heat bearing (7) to a temperature of 135°C (275°F), and install it on the pinion. Install spacer (6).4. Lower the temperature of bearing races (3), and install them in the housing assembly.5. Install seal (4); then put housing assembly (5) in position on the pinion assembly. 6. Install bearing (8) in the housing assembly. 7. Install seal (9) in the retainer. The lip of the seal should be toward the bearings on the pinion. 8. Install seal retainer (14). Install yoke (13). Install seal (12), washer (11) and nut (10). Tighten the nut to a torque of 407 to 813 N m (300 to 600 lb ft). At the same time, make sure a notch in the nut is in alignment with the hole in the pinion shaft. 9. Check the bearing preload with a 200 mm (7.8 in) long N m (lb in) torque wrench and 1 3/4" socket. The preload should be 1.1 to 4.5 N m (10 to 40 lb in). Install the pinion shaft and nut. 10. Install pinion assembly (15) in the axle housing. Install the bolts that hold it. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 108 to 136 N m (80 to 100 lb ft).
