If a connection cannot be made from the office, review the following steps in the office to help isolate and resolve the issue.Web Browser
Ensure that the proper IP address is attempted.
Check Power.
Ensure that the VIMS 3G ECM is power cycled after changes in ET are made.
Ensure that the VIMS 3G ECM has proper power and ground applied. Attempt to connect to the ECM with CAT ET. Use a Volt meter to check for proper power, Keyswitch, and ground. Schematic is shown at the end of this Special Instruction.
VIMS 3G Main ECM typically takes 20 seconds to boot up. Allow 20 seconds after power ON before attempting to connect ET, VIMSPC, or launch the webpage.
Close the current web browser, open a new one, and try again. Cache can sometimes cause adverse effects.

Check the web browser and ensure that the proxy server option is not enabled. Refer to your web browser help section for more details.Trace Route Verification from Office PC
The connection path can be traced using traceroute command. The traceroute command and interpretation are standard to the operating system used. Refer to the PC operating systems documentation for more details.
Verify that the PC network port is able to connect to VIMS 3G IP address.
Open a DOS window/command prompt from the office.
Type "tracert (insert VIMS 3G IP Address)".If unable to obtain a trace to VIMS 3G, then traceroute to other components on the network to determine where the problem is.Unable to Launch FTP Only
Web browser works, check "Internet Options" and ensure that FTP options are enabled. Refer to the web browser help section for more details.

Illustration 40 g02720798The Chassis option should not be available, if there is no VIMS Application ECM. If it shows that when no port exists, and no connection can be made, try turning OFF any wireless connection, shutting OFF VIMSpc, and trying again.Telnet Access
VIMS3G Supports Telnet. Using telnet, all the VIMS 3G module can act as a useful troubleshooting tool. Using the previous example to access telnet.
In the run dialog box, type "telnet 10.21.233.100" and hit enter. A telnet command prompt interface will pop up into VIMS 3G.
Enter the username as "admin" and password as "admin".Ping
In Telnet, a ping command can be used for route analysis.
