8.1MOTOMIT 4 has several methods for calculating the volume of cut timber. The method is selected according to harvesting area (see section 6.3.2 Machine Information)8.1.1Slice By Slice On The Bark (Finnish)
The volume is the sum of the volume of each slice. A slice is calculated as a cylinder, length 10cm and diameter is the average diameter of the slice, on the bark. The total log length for volume calculation is the cut length.8.1.2Fast Meter (HKS, German)
The "fast meter" volume of a log is the volume of a cylinder. The length is the nominal length, which is shorter than the cut length. The diameter is the median diameter of the nominal log, under bark.8.1.3Slice By Slice Under Bark (Swedish)
The volume is similar to the Finnish method but the depth of the bark is removed before calculation.
