Measure the thickness of plates (6). Replace the plates if the plates are less than 2.00 mm (0.079 inch) thick.
Apply Tooling (A) to the surface of plates (6) .
Attach a suitable lifting device to extender carriage (3) and install extender carriage (3) on the extender. The weight of the extender carriage for the AS2251 Screed is 146 kg (322 lb). The weight of the extender carriage for the AS2301 Screed is approximately 160 kg (353 lb). Apply Tooling (B) to locks (5). Install the locks and nuts (4) .
Measure the gap between plates (6) and the frame. If the gap is more than 1.00 mm (0.040 inch), remove the height adjuster group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Height Adjuster Group (Extender) - Remove".

Measure the thickness of plates (7) on the height adjuster group. Replace the plates if the plates are less than 2.00 mm (0.079 inch) thick.
Loosen nut (9) .
Set the gap from the top of plates (7) to the top of adjuster (8) to 12.0 mm (0.47 inch).
Tighten nut (9) to a torque of 700 90 N m (516 66 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (A) to the surface of plates (7) .
Install the height adjuster group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Adjuster Height Group (Extender) - Install".

Install plate (2) and bolts.
Connect tube assemblies (1) on the extender cylinder.End By:
Install the screed frame (extender). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Screed Frame (Extender) - Remove and Install".
Install the deflector (strike-off). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Deflector (Strike-Off) - Install".
